Hazel's head test assemble - 3rd round...
I am back hard at work on the head, I had to insert the pins and rods needed to mount the head onto the neck and the two antennas onto the side of the tomahawk. I also started work on the 4 explosive struts on each side of the hazel's neck that keep the Hazel's head mounted onto the primrose unit, You don't see these parts in the models, but they are visible in the cover illustration for the AOZ book.

Now that I am done mounting all of the rods and pins, I did another test assemble.

I am making progress, but not the kind of progress I thougth I would...

Could you tell me the grey filler that you are using for this build? I am doing some scratchwork terribly inferior to yours and could use a tip.
What is the grey filler you use with your styrene? I am doing some scratchwork of my own that is terribly inferior to yours and could use a tip. Thanks.
I use Milliput silver-grey putty, the other grey stuff I used is Gunze-Sangyo Mr. Surfacer 500. Both work great, Mr. Surfacer is applied by using a paint brush, both are available over the internet.
Hi Chris, I found ur blog from fichtenfoo's forum. I am really impressed with your works. I bought a few stylene plastic board about a yr ago for scratching building. But i found it hard to cut the desire shape i want. The board is really hard and i often hurt my fingers. I was wondering what tools are you using to cut those plastic.
Hi Kevin,
When I cut thick styrene, I use metal ruler, two pliers (Lineman's pliers), and a sharp x-acto knife. I use a metal ruler because it holds up to repeated cutting with a knife, and I pliers exactly because of it is easier on my fingers. The pliers are really good when you have to break off small pieces of styrene.
thx for the advice Chris. I also use a metal ruler for repeated cutting, it takes me like 5 mins for each cut. But using pilers for snaping it in half would save me a lot of time.
What if I want to cut circular shapes on the stylene sheets? is there no other way besides sanding it to circular shapes?
By the way, I just notice you are from SD. I am as well.
For cutting circles, there is no easy way to cut a even circle by hand. You can use a compass with a cutting blade, but in the end it will not be perfect. I am still trying to figure that one out.
I will have to experiment when I have a chance...
